Course Objectives
To make students understand the history, evolution and changing environment of policing; comprehend Management Theory and its application to Police Organizations; analyze the Strategic Plan of Bangladesh Police; understand concepts of Police Leadership, governance, risk assessment, and operational management; and apply ethics and community-oriented policing values.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge regarding:
- CLO1: Remember the history, evolution and changing environment of policing of England, America and Indian Sub-continent; Police role in Criminal Justice system.
- CLO2: Understand Management Theory and its Application to Police Organization; Strategic Management and Strategic Plan; Concept of Total Quality Management (TQM).
- CLO3: Analyze the Strategic Plan of Bangladesh Police: Corporate Plan 2007-2009 DMP, and Strategic Plans (BP) 2008-10, 2012-14, 2018-2020.
- CLO4: Understand Leadership Theories, influence of organizational culture on leadership styles, police governance, and accountability.
- CLO5: Evaluate strategies for formulating police operational plans.
- CLO6: Evaluate and manage risk assessment in police operations.
- CLO7: Understand Public Order Management, use of force, and control of public disorder.
- CLO8: Analyze the concepts of Ethics and Policing, standard ethical conduct, and discretion.
- CLO9: Understand Community Policing and police-public engagement in crime prevention.
